Our mission is to empower millions of learners to cultivate essential intellectual virtues—humility, cognitive empathy, critical thinking, and the ability to engage productively across differences. Driven by rigorous empirical research, we develop and deploy innovative educational tools that foster free inquiry and intelligent discussion.
Our primary tool is Sway, a chat platform that connects students with differing perspectives into one-on-one conversations and uses AI to facilitate better discussions between them.
Founded by Simon Cullen and Nicholas DiBella, we incorporated Disagree Wisely as a Florida nonprofit in April 2025 to transition Sway from a Carnegie Mellon University project to an independent educational and research platform.
